Welcome To The Class of 1966

Welcome to the history and excitement of our class – the Spartans of Camelback High School, the graduates of 1966. We worked hard for four years to solidify our place in the halls of a great institution. We studied, we played hard, we put in our time to start out on the winding pathway of adulthood.
Camelback was our stepping stone between the immature and fun, casual, irresponsible days of grade school to that great high school with ashtrays known as college. Whether Madison or Squaw Peak, hundreds descended on that campus on Campbell to start their journey into the future. and we’re still making our way toward our goals and dreams. We hope you find yours.
Over 750 matriculators (some brilliant, some talented, some creatively just sneaking through the process) showed up in cap and gown for graduation that June 10th day in ’66.
We went on to enter the worlds of politics and law, medicine and manufacturing, real estate, and retail. We produced products, promoted services, made great music, traveled and traversed this great country and abroad.
Some achieved great successes while others gave their lives in defense of our country. Each unique, each distinct, each to be remembered and rewarded with our friendship and love.
Spartan Highlights!
We were a special class, ready to take on the world and make it a better place. Are we succeeding? Did you do your part? Only you know the truth – it’s out there.
Clubs and Groups
Throughout our years at CHS, many took part in civic clubs, politics, debate and radio club, journalism, Latin, French and Spanish clubs, and Future Teachers of America. Somehow we knew these were the foundation for our lives.
Sports
Whether you played football, basketball, baseball, track & field, tennis, golf, you bowled or hit birdies, you represented the best that Spartans had to give. You won championships, set records, and showed the heat of battle’s competition and what it was like to be beaten by our spirit.
Special Times
NOVEMBER 12, 2022 was our remembrance time for the classes of ’66 and ’67. So many things went by quickly in our 4 CHS years. We portrayed characters in plays, we danced, played and performed in talent assemblies, cried at homecoming, endured the hardest of homework, mixed chemicals, dissected frogs, made friends and maybe fell in love – twice? Whatever your memories, they are and should be special….. for the class of ’66 sure is. Celebrate your life!

Keep in Touch with Friends @ Our Reunion
This site’s purpose is to bring back some memories, but most of all again connects you with friends from the past. Yes, “old friends” can be the best friends. While doing this site, looking through the yearbooks of old, many good thoughts appeared; From the photos and headlines to the personal message left by friends sometimes it’s nice to sit back, relax and think about those we’ve kept in touch with, and those who have just been a short part of our lives. And to those who have gone on before us… we’ll never forget your important and personal impact on our lives.
Remembering Rick Olson’s Wisdom
He wrote in a yearbook…..
“We are actually face friends & not name friends, but as long as the word friends appears – that’s enough.“
The Insightful Wisdom of Physics
Mr. Barlow, Physics teacher wrote his thoughts in my yearbook…
“Thanks for working so hard…. at getting out of work.”
Teaching Young Minds More than Music
Ron Holloway, CHS Band director
“In life, early is on time – and on time is late.“
He told us once, “I can’t build this band on excuses,” and neither can we build our lives on less than 100 % dedication and hard work.
Great teachers teach us of many things. Did you have some great ones?
Our lives as Spartans at Camelback High
High school is an end to our youthful years, the start of our older years and brings us memories, adventures and loves. We hope it was a good beginning.
