1966 – We see our four-year adventure closing out. We’ve succeeded and failed, experienced and rejoiced and soon… all this toil, turmoil, and happiness will be behind us as we venture forward to a new life as adults. June 10th… we can say we made it.
As a line from the play “You Can’t Take It With You” says….. “life’s pretty simple if you relax.”

Positions were filled by Spartans making the All-State team: Peterman (2 positions), Constable, Kershner, Roberts, and Brodersen. The JV team was strong with a 9-1 record.
Basketball Coach: Dick Lucas – The B-Ballers outdid last year’s record with a one-game score of 98 over Carl Heydon. the team finished 2nd in Division III with a 15-5 record.
Baseball fought hard, wrestlers had a tough 2-8 season but Tim Roberts placed 3rd in the state and on the field…. Gary Shires set a new 220 record of 21.5 seconds and Bill Hennessey ran the 880 in 1:55.7 – another school record.
Our swim team won the Division and the State Championship. Bill Wood sets a new record for the 400 meters at 4:07.8 and our tennis team… completes their third undefeated year.

Not to be forgotten,
Band Director Ron Holloway. He came to Camelback from his assistant teaching position at A.S.U. and brought new life to our music program. He was so successful in his time with us that not only we got the Pro-Football halftime invitation his 2nd year, but he also was claimed as the new Director of Bands at Sacramento State University in California. A post he held till his retirement a few years ago. As a teacher, he not only developed music skills in his students, but fosters the traits of hard work and respect, and taught them life lessons that would serve us for decades in our personal and business lives.
